Okay, so you know how I've been cleaning this building for what — eight years now? Nine? Long enough that I know which residents leave their dishes in the sink and which ones actually rinse them. Long enough that I know Mr. Patterson on three cheats on his wife every Tuesday, and Mrs. Kowalski drinks a bottle of wine before noon most days. You learn things. You notice things. You become part of the wallpaper, and people forget you're even there.
And then there's Lawrence. Larry. Apartment 4B.
I noticed him noticing me maybe three months ago. Maybe longer. You know how it is — you reach a certain age and you stop expecting men to look at you, so when one does, it takes a second to register. He'd come out of his room in the morning, gym bag over his shoulder, and his eyes would find me in the hallway. Not in a creepy way. Not in a way that made me want to report him to management. Just... looking. Appreciating. The way a man looks at a sunset or a good steak, you know? Like he was genuinely glad to see me.
And I'm not going to lie to you — I looked back.
Larry is seventy years old, but you wouldn't always know it. He's tall, like six feet, and he carries himself like someone who still respects his body. Broad shoulders. Still has most of his hair. He wears these fitted t-shirts that show off arms that clearly still see a weight room. For seventy, he's — well, you'd look twice. Don't pretend you wouldn't.
It started with hellos. Then it was hellos and a comment about the weather. Then it was hellos and a comment about the weather and him bringing me a coffee from the place on the corner because he "accidentally ordered two." Then it was him asking about my weekends, my kids, my plans. Real questions. The kind where he actually listened to the answers.
And the whole time, those eyes.
Last week he brought me a plant. A little succulent thing in a ceramic pot. Said his daughter sent him three and he only had room for two. But the pot had this handwritten tag that said "For the woman who makes the hallway brighter" and I thought, okay, this man is not subtle. This man is trying to tell me something. And I've been single for — God, how long? Four years? Five? You stop counting after a while because the number just gets depressing.
I'm sixty-four. I'm not dead. I still have needs. I still want to feel someone's hands on me. I still want to wake up next to someone who thinks I'm worth waking up next to. And I'm tired of waiting for it to just happen, you know? I'm tired of being patient. I'm tired of being the woman who cleans the hallway and goes home to an empty apartment and a cat who doesn't care whether she's there or not.
So yesterday morning, I decided.
I was on the fourth floor, doing the rounds. I'd timed it — not consciously at first, but then consciously — to be near 4B when he usually left for the gym. And right on schedule, his door opened.
He came out in that gray t-shirt, the one that fits just right across the chest. Gym bag. Sneakers. He saw me and smiled, and there it was — that look. That warm, appreciative look that made me feel like I was forty again.
"Morning," he said.
"Morning, Larry."
He paused. He always paused now. Like he was looking for a reason to keep standing there.
"You're here early," he said.
"I'm always here early. You just don't usually come out until seven-fifteen. It's seven-twenty."
He laughed. "You keeping track of me?"
"Someone has to."
And I said it with this look — this direct, knowing look — and I saw something shift in his face. A flicker. Like he realized the game had changed.
I set my cleaning cart to the side, blocking the hallway just enough. Not trapping him. Just... narrowing his options.
"Larry, can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Do you think I'm attractive?"
He blinked. His mouth opened, then closed. Then opened again. For a man who clearly works out, he suddenly looked like he'd forgotten how to breathe.
"I — what?"
"It's a simple question. Do you think I'm attractive. Yes or no."
He looked down the hallway. Looked at the ceiling. Looked at his gym bag like it might contain an escape hatch. Then he looked back at me, and I watched something settle in him. A decision.
"Yes," he said. "I think you're very attractive. I've thought so for a long time."
"How long?"
"Since the first time I saw you yell at the delivery guy for leaving boxes in the walkway. You were magnificent."
I laughed. I couldn't help it. "Magnificent. That's a new one."
"It's true. You're beautiful, and you're funny, and you're the best part of my morning. Every morning."
I stepped closer. He didn't step back. His eyes got a little wider, but he held his ground.
"Larry," I said, "I'm sixty-four years old and I don't want to wait anymore."
Then I kissed him.
Right there in the hallway. My hands on his chest, his mouth warm and surprised against mine. He tasted like coffee and toothpaste and something underneath that was just him. For a second he was frozen — like his body couldn't catch up to what was happening. Then his hand came up to the back of my neck and he kissed me back. Really kissed me back. Like he'd been thinking about it for months and finally had permission.
His other hand found my waist, then slid to the small of my back, pulling me closer. I could feel his heart hammering through that gray t-shirt. Seventy years old and his heart was going like a drum.
"You're going to make me miss my workout," he murmured against my mouth.
"You can work out later."
"I really can't. My trainer charges a cancellation fee."
"Then cancel."
He pulled back just enough to look at me. His eyes were dark, pupils blown wide. "You're serious."
"I've never been more serious about anything in my life."
He grabbed my hand. Not gently, either — with purpose. With intent. He pulled me down the hallway toward his room, fumbling the key card with his free hand while I pressed against his back, my mouth on his shoulder, my hands on his stomach.
The door opened and we practically fell inside. His condo is nicer than mine — big windows, clean lines, a bed that's made with actual hospital corners. I noticed that. I notice everything. But mostly I noticed the way he turned around and pulled me against him and kissed me like his life depended on it.
"I've been wanting to do this for months," he said, between kisses. "Since the plant. No — since before the plant. Since the coffee. No — since the first morning."
"Shut up," I said, and kissed him again.
I pulled his shirt over his head. His body is — okay, I need you to understand something. I was not expecting what I found underneath. He's seventy, right? You prepare yourself for something. Softness. Sagging. The usual. But Larry's body is — he's in shape. Real shape. His chest is broad and firm, his stomach flat, his shoulders defined. He clearly does not skip the gym. I ran my hands over him and he shivered under my touch, and that shiver — God, that shiver went straight through me.
I pushed him onto the bed. He sat down hard, looking up at me with this expression I'll never forget — stunned and hungry and a little bit overwhelmed. Like he'd walked into his own fantasy and couldn't quite believe it was real.
I knelt down in front of him.
"Let me," I said.
He didn't argue. He leaned back on his hands and watched me unbutton his jeans, pull them down, take him in my hand. He was already hard — thick and warm and alive in my palm. I looked up at him and he was staring at me with his mouth slightly open, breathing through it.
I took him in my mouth.
He made a sound — not a moan yet, more like a gasp that got caught halfway out. His hand came to my hair, not pushing, just resting there. I worked him slowly, taking my time, using my tongue and my hand together, finding a rhythm. I could feel him getting harder, feel him twitching against my tongue.
"That's — oh God — that's so good," he said. His voice was rough. Cracked at the edges.
I looked up at him and he was watching me, and the look on his face — it wasn't just pleasure. It was wonder. Like he couldn't believe this was happening to him. And something about that look, that vulnerability, it made me wet. Genuinely, embarrassingly wet. I could feel it building between my legs, that heavy ache that demands attention.
I took him deeper. I used my hand to stroke the base while my mouth worked the top, and I let my other hand drift between my own legs, pressing against myself through my uniform. The friction wasn't enough but it was something.
He noticed. Of course he noticed. He's observant, this one.
"Are you — are you touching yourself?"
I pulled up just enough to say, "You make me wet, Larry. You've been making me wet for months." Then I took him back in my mouth.
That's when the moaning started. Real moaning. Deep, guttural sounds coming from somewhere in his chest. His hips started moving, just slightly, pushing up into my mouth. His fingers tightened in my hair. The sounds he was making — God, they were beautiful. Every moan, every gasp, every whispered "oh fuck" — it was like fuel. It made me bolder. It made me want more.
"You like that?" I pulled up to ask, stroking him with my hand.
"Yes — please don't stop —"
"I want to hear you, Larry. Don't hold back."
I went down on him again and he didn't hold back. He moaned like he'd been keeping it inside for years. His whole body was tense, trembling, his abs tight and flexing. I could feel him getting close — that swelling, that urgency. His hand gripped my hair harder and his hips pushed up and his moans turned into something almost desperate.
"I'm going to — I'm close —"
I pulled off him. He made a sound of protest, almost a whimper, and I almost laughed. Almost. But I was too turned on to laugh. I was so wet I could feel it on my thighs.
I stood up, pulled my uniform over my head, unclasped my bra, stepped out of my underwear. His eyes tracked every movement, roaming over me with naked hunger. I'm sixty-four. I have stretch marks and sagging and all the things that come with age. But the way he looked at me, I could have been twenty-five.
I climbed onto the bed and straddled him. He was still mostly dressed from the waist down, jeans around his ankles, but I didn't care. I positioned myself over him and slid down.
The sound he made — I can't even describe it. It was like every moan he'd been holding back his whole life came out at once. His hands found my hips and gripped hard enough to leave marks, and his head fell back against the pillow and he just — surrendered. Gave himself over to it completely.
I rode him. Slow at first, grinding my hips, finding the angle that worked for me. He was thick enough that I could feel every inch, and I was so wet that the sound of it — that slick, obscene sound — filled the room. His moans were constant now, a low continuous rumble that rose and fell with my rhythm.
"Tell me what you want," I said.
"You. Just you. Please don't stop."
"Look at me."
He opened his eyes. They were glassy, unfocused, beautiful. I leaned forward and kissed him, and he kissed me back with this desperate urgency, his tongue in my mouth, his hands sliding up to my breasts, cupping them, thumbs brushing my nipples.
I sat back up and took what I wanted. I planted my hands on his chest and shoved him flat, then I bent low and latched onto his nipple—sucked it hard, bit the bud until he gasped, worked it like I was the one mounting him, marking every inch of his body as mine. His moans shattered into these broken, pleading cries that made my cunt clench. I straightened up and rode him faster, slamming down, owning the rhythm with no mercy. I didn’t give a damn if the neighbors heard. Let them. Let them know Larry in 4B is getting fucked senseless.
"Fuck," he groaned, the word cracking into a whimper that vibrated straight through my chest. "Oh fuck, oh fuck —" His voice climbed, raw and reedy, and I could feel his whole body starting to shake under me, like he was coming apart at the seams. His hands scrambled for my hips, gripping hard enough to bruise, and those sounds—those gorgeous, helpless sounds—kept spilling out of him, high and broken, the kind of moans a woman makes when she's completely surrendered. That's what did it for me. Hearing him lose himself like that, all that masculine control just dissolving into whimpers and pleas, it soaked me even more, made me ride him harder just to drag out every last note.
I could feel him getting close again. His whole body was rigid, his jaw clenched, his fingers digging into my hips. I ground down on him, clenching around him, and that pushed him over.
He came with a sound that was almost a shout — his back arching off the bed, his hips bucking up into me, his hands pulling me down hard against him. I could feel him pulsing inside me, hot and thick, and I rode it out, slowing my pace, milking every last wave of it from him.
When it was over, he collapsed back onto the pillow, chest heaving, eyes closed. He looked completely wrecked. Destroyed in the best possible way.
But I hadn't finished yet.
I lifted myself off him — he groaned at the loss — and moved up the bed. I swung one leg over his face, positioning myself right above him.
"Your turn," I said.
He opened his eyes. For a moment he just looked at me — at my pussy, right there, inches from his face, glistening with how wet I was. Then he smiled. This slow, wicked smile that I did not expect from a seventy-year-old man.
"Sit," he said.
I sat.
His mouth found me immediately, and it was — okay, I need a second. His tongue was everywhere. Broad, flat strokes, then focused little circles on my clit, then long slow licks from bottom to top. He used his lips, his tongue, even the stubble on his chin — all of it working together. His hands gripped my thighs, holding me in place, pulling me down harder against his mouth.
I braced myself on the headboard and ground against his face. I was so close already — I'd been close since I first went down on him, since the first moan, since the first moment I felt him inside me. It had been building and building and now his mouth was pushing me right to the edge.
"Right there," I gasped. "Don't stop — right there —"
He didn't stop. He kept that same rhythm, that same pressure, his tongue working my clit in steady circles while I rode his face. I could feel it building — that tight, coiled tension deep in my belly, spreading outward.
"I'm going to — Larry — I'm —"
I came so hard my vision blurred. My whole body seized, my thighs clamping around his head, my fingers white-knuckled on the headboard. Wave after wave, pulsing through me, and he kept going, kept licking, kept his mouth on me through every second of it until I was shaking and gasping and had to pull away because I couldn't take any more.
I collapsed beside him. We lay there, side by side, both breathing hard, staring at the ceiling. The room smelled like sex and sweat and coffee. His hand found mine and laced our fingers together.
"That was," he said. He stopped. Tried again. "That was —"
"Yeah," I said.
"I think I need to cancel my trainer permanently."
I laughed. I laughed until my ribs hurt, and he laughed too, and we lay there in his beautiful condo with the big windows and the hospital corners, holding hands like teenagers.
So that's what happened. That's what I did this morning instead of cleaning the fourth floor hallway. And you know what? I don't regret a single second of it.
He asked me to dinner tonight. An actual restaurant, with menus and wine lists and everything. And I'm going to say yes. Because I'm sixty-four years old and I'm done waiting, and Larry in 4B looks at me like I'm the best thing he's ever seen.
Now stop looking at me like that and help me pick something to wear.
Okay, so you know how I've been cleaning this building for what — eight years now? Nine? Long enough that I know which residents leave their dishes in the sink and which ones actually rinse them.
