NOVA AND SECOND MAIDEND VOYAGE
by RILAYAWRITERabout 1 hour ago
•long read•intense intensityThe harbor lights of Manhattan reflected off the black water of the Hudson, casting shifting orange ribbons across the hull of the MSS Fulfillment as it sat moored beside the older MSS Temptation. The two ships formed a floating corridor of light and noise against the dark MI Warehouse Events Center behind them, and the whole arrangement looked like someone had taken a very expensive party and dropped it into the middle of an industrial waterfront. Which, Maya thought, gripping the bar rail on the top deck, was essentially what had happened.
The Nova was still inside her. It had been forty minutes since Topanga had turned it off, and the device sat in its position with the patient confidence of a loaded weapon — silent, weighted, pressing against her G-spot and her clit with a constant, low-grade fullness that made every step a negotiation. She'd pulled her jeans back on. She'd had a glass of water. She'd had a second glass of water.
She'd had a conversation with Farkle about the up coming evening's playlist that she was approximately sixty percent sure she'd participated in coherently. The Nova shifted every time she moved, and the knowledge that Topanga had the remote — tucked somewhere in the pocket of her tailored linen pants, probably, where it sat with the same casual authority as everything else Topanga owned — kept Maya in a state of alert, low-level arousal that was starting to make her teeth itch.
Below the deck, the Kappa sorority girls were managing the last logistical details before departure. Maya could hear them through the stairwell — the efficient clatter of supplies being organized, the rustle of tablecloths being spread across the card tables in the main lounge, the occasional burst of laughter that suggested the work was going faster than the professionalism. The ship was scheduled to cast off at midnight, seven days into safe international waters, and the energy aboard was the particular kind that comes from a group of people who know exactly what they're about to do and are trying to act normal about it.
Aubrey was at the bar, nursing something amber and ice-cold, her long legs crossed at the ankle on the barstool. She'd recovered from her own encounter with the Nova — mostly. There was still a flush across her collarbones that hadn't fully subsided, and she was sitting with the careful posture of someone whose body was reminding her of things she'd rather it forget. Jennifer stood beside her, one elbow on the bar, listening to something Stuart was saying about the ship's new stabilization system with the polite interest of someone who was absolutely not listening.
Smackle was at a table near the windows, a tablet open in front of her, running through what appeared to be a spreadsheet of event timings. She looked up as Maya passed. "The card tables are set up in the forward lounge. Six tables, four chairs each. I've assigned seating based on a combination of social compatibility scores and —" she paused, her eyes dropping briefly to Maya's waistline as if she could see through denim — "other factors." "Other factors," Maya repeated. "Topanga provided a list of preferences." "Of course she did."
Riley appeared from the stairwell carrying a basket of cards — actual playing cards, the good kind, with the heavy linen finish — and a set of chips that clinked with the satisfying weight of real clay. She set them on the nearest table and looked at Maya with an expression that Maya recognized immediately. It was the expression Riley wore when she'd had an idea and was about to share it with the confidence of someone who didn't expect resistance.
"We're playing cards," Riley said. "We're always playing cards," Maya said. "This time it's different." Riley set the basket down and turned to face her wife directly. Her brown eyes were bright, her hair pulled back in a loose ponytail that exposed the line of her neck. "Topanga has the remote. You have the Nova. I want the remote." Maya felt the Nova shift as she shifted her weight. "You want Topanga's remote."
"I want to operate it. During the game." Riley's mouth curved. "Topanga and I take turns. Whoever's hand is on the dial when you come — that person wins the hand." "That's not how cards work." "It's how these cards work. I asked Topanga. She's in." Of course she was in. Maya could see Topanga across the room, standing near the platform where the Sybian still sat in its dormant state, talking to one of the sorority girls — the redhead, who was holding a clipboard and nodding with the focused intensity of someone receiving instructions they intended to follow precisely.
Topanga glanced over. She reached into her pocket. She pulled out the remote. The blue light pulsed once. Maya's stomach dropped. Not from fear. From anticipation. From the specific, Pavlovian response her body had already developed to that blue pulse, the way her pussy clenched around the Nova at the mere suggestion that it might activate. "Fine," Maya said. "But if I come during a fold, it doesn't count." "Desperation rules," Riley said. "All orgasms count."
The forward lounge was warmer than the top deck, the air thick with the overlapping scents of new carpet, cocktail garnishes, and something faintly tropical that the climate control system was pushing through the vents. The card tables had been arranged in a loose semicircle, and the overhead lights had been dimmed to a level that suggested intimacy without sacrificing visibility — a balance that Maya suspected was Farkle's doing, since he'd been adjusting the lighting controls from the booth for the last twenty minutes with the focus of a man defusing a bomb.
The core group gathered at the center table. Maya, Riley, Topanga, Aubrey. Farkle took the DJ booth but angled his chair so he could see the table. Jennifer and Stuart pulled chairs to the periphery, Jennifer with a glass of white wine and the posture of someone settling in for theater. Smackle remained at her spreadsheet table but had rotated her chair to face the action, her tablet forgotten, her pen tapping a rhythm against her knee.
The sorority girls circulated. One of them — a blonde named Kelsey who had the efficient movements of someone used to managing chaos — delivered fresh drinks to the table and then paused, her eyes moving from Maya to Topanga to the remote on the table between them. She didn't ask. She just set the drinks down and retreated with the particular grace of someone who had been briefed.
Maya sat down. The act of sitting drove the Nova deeper, the base pressing firmly against her clit, and she gripped the edge of the table with both hands. The Nova was warm from her body heat. It had been inside her for almost an hour. The fullness was no longer something she was actively noticing — it had become a background condition, like a sound you stop hearing — but sitting down brought it back to the foreground with a specificity that made her exhale through her nose.
"Deal," Topanga said. Riley shuffled. The cards whispered against each other, a soft, rhythmic sound that filled the quiet lounge. She dealt five hands. Five-card draw, nothing wild, except that everything was wild tonight in the ways that mattered. Topanga picked up her cards. Her face gave away nothing. She'd always been good at that — the composed, steady expression that made her impossible to read across a poker table or a boardroom or, apparently, a situation where she held the remote to a vibrator inside her daughter-in-law's wife.
Maya picked up her cards. A pair of nines. Garbage. She didn't care about the cards. She cared about the remote, which sat on the table between Topanga and Riley like a talisman, its blue light pulsing in its slow, patient rhythm. "Topanga plays first," Riley said. "She controls the dial for the first hand. If I win the hand, I get the remote for the next round. If she wins, she keeps it."
"And if Maya wins?" Aubrey asked from across the table, her green eyes sharp with amusement. "Then Maya gets a minute with the dial off," Riley said. "As a reward." "How generous," Maya said. Topanga reached for the remote. Her fingers closed around it. She didn't press anything yet. She looked at Maya across the table — looked at her the way she'd looked at her before she'd turned the dial to eight, that assessing, unhurried gaze that made Maya feel like she was being read — and then she pressed the button.
Setting two. Steady vibration. Low. Maya's jaw tightened. The Nova hummed inside her, the vibration traveling through the curved head against her G-spot and down through the base to her clit, and the dual sensation was a conversation her body was very interested in having. She kept her face still. She kept her cards steady. She looked at her nines.
"Cards?" Riley asked. Maya discarded three. Drew three. Nothing. She was going to lose this hand. She was going to lose this hand while a vibrator hummed inside her at setting two, and the knowledge that it could go higher at any moment — that Topanga could, at any point, turn that dial and send her from manageable to catastrophic — was doing its own work on her nervous system.
Aubrey drew. Topanga drew. Riley drew. "Show," Riley said. Topanga laid down two pair. Kings and fours. Riley laid down a flush. Aubrey laid down nothing and folded early. "I win," Riley said. She reached across the table and took the remote from Topanga's hand. Their fingers touched. Topanga let go with a deliberate slowness that suggested she was conceding the object but not the war. Riley held the remote. She looked at Maya. Her wife. Her partner. The woman sitting across a card table with a vibrator inside her, waiting for Riley to press a button. Riley pressed the button. Setting four. Pulsing.
The shift was immediate. The steady hum became a throb — on, off, on, off — and each pulse hit Maya's G-spot and clit simultaneously, a rhythmic double-tap that made her thighs press together under the table. She grabbed the edge of the table. Her knuckles went white.
"Cards," Riley said, dealing the next hand. "I'm trying to play cards," Maya said through her teeth. "You're trying to not come. The cards are separate." Maya picked up her hand. She couldn't focus on it. The pulses were coming at a pace that synced with her heartbeat, or maybe her heartbeat was syncing with the pulses, and the distinction didn't matter because her body was being conducted by a device that her wife was operating with the calm efficiency of someone who'd been waiting for this opportunity all night.
Three of a kind. Sevens. Better than last hand. "I'll keep these," Maya said. "Brave," Aubrey said. She was watching Maya with the attentive gaze of someone who'd been in the same position an hour ago and knew exactly what was happening behind that controlled expression.
Riley drew. Topanga drew. Aubrey drew. "Show," Riley said. Maya laid down her sevens. Riley laid down a full house. "I win again," Riley said. She turned the dial to five. The vibration increased. Maya's breath left her in a sharp, involuntary exhale. Her hips shifted on the chair — she couldn't help it, her body was moving on its own, grinding forward against the toy, seeking more pressure or less pressure or something, any change that would let her think. The chair creaked under her.
"Topanga," Maya said. "Can I get that minute off?" "You didn't win the hand," Topanga said. She was watching with her chin on her hand, her brown eyes tracking every micro-expression on Maya's face with the focus of a naturalist observing a specimen. "She's at five," Aubrey said. "She's going to come in the next hand if someone doesn't —" "That's the point," Riley said. She dealt the next hand. "Cards."
Maya picked up her cards. She couldn't read them. The pulsing was at a frequency that was dissolving her ability to process symbols. She saw shapes. Colors. Numbers that might have been numbers. She was wet — she could feel it now, the slickness between her thighs, the way the toy moved inside her with each involuntary clench, the way her underwear was doing nothing to contain the situation. She discarded blind. Drew blind. It didn't matter.
Riley turned the dial to six. "Fuck," Maya said. The word came out loud, louder than she intended, and one of the sorority girls near the bar turned her head. Maya didn't care. The pulse was deep now, a throb that reached into her and held on, each wave building on the last, and she could feel the orgasm assembling itself inside her like a structure being built piece by piece, each pulse adding a layer.
"Show," Riley said. Nobody showed. Maya was gripping the table with both hands, her head down, her hair falling forward. Her hips were rocking on the chair in small, tight movements that she was not controlling. Her thighs were shaking. The muscles in her stomach were flexing.
"She's close," Topanga said. That same observational tone. Calm. Clinical. Like she was reading a gauge. "Should I turn it up?" Riley asked. "You should turn it up," Aubrey said, and there was something in her voice — not quite revenge, but adjacent to it. Payback for the eight. Maya would have glared at her if she could have opened her eyes.
Riley turned it to seven. Maya's whole body locked. Her back arched. Her hands left the table and gripped the arms of the chair, fingers digging into the upholstery. The orgasm hit her like a wave breaking — not the slow, rolling build of the first one on the top deck but a sharp, concentrated detonation that centered on the toy and expanded outward through her pelvis in hot, electric pulses. Her pussy clamped around the Nova, each contraction squeezing the device, shifting it, changing the contact points, which sent new signals, which triggered more contractions.
She came in the chair at the card table in front of her wife, her mother-in-law, her friends, and a dozen sorority girls who had all stopped working. She made a sound. It wasn't a moan and it wasn't a curse. It was something between — raw, involuntary, the sound of a body overriding every instruction from the brain. Riley turned it off.
Maya stayed in the chair. Her hands were still gripping the armrests. Her breath came in short, shallow gasps. Her thighs were trembling. She could feel her own wetness on the chair. "Who won?" she asked, her voice hoarse. Riley held up her hand. Pair of tens. "I did."
"Of course you did."
"That's two hands for me, one for Topanga. Topanga had one orgasm assist. I had one orgasm assist." Riley set the remote down on the table. "We're tied." Topanga picked up the remote. She held it the way she held everything — with a composure that suggested the object was lucky to be in her hand. "Best of three."
Maya straightened up. Her legs were still shaking. The Nova sat inside her, silent, patient, waiting. She looked at Riley. Riley looked at her with an expression that was equal parts love and competitive satisfaction, and Maya felt something that was not the vibrator — something warmer, something that lived in her chest instead of her pelvis — and she thought, not for the first time and not for the last, that she was the luckiest woman on this ship.
"Deal," Maya said. Riley dealt. Topanga pressed the button. Setting three. Maya picked up her cards. She had a pair of queens. She was going to play them. She was going to play them while a vibrator pulsed inside her at setting three, and she was going to try to win a hand of cards so that she could get sixty seconds of silence, and then she was going to lose the next hand because her wife and her mother-in-law were conspiring against her, and she was going to come again, and it was going to be magnificent, and there were still seven days left.
The ship's horn sounded — a deep, resonant blast that vibrated through the hull and through the furniture and through the Nova inside her, adding its own frequency to the mix. The MSS Fulfillment was casting off. The lines were being released. The harbor lights began to slide sideways past the windows. Farkle's voice came over the speakers, warm and clear: "Ladies and gentlemen, we have departed. Welcome to the second maiden voyage."
Topanga turned the dial to four. Maya folded her queens, dropped her head to the table, and started laughing. "That's not a fold," Riley said. "That's a surrender," Maya said into the felt. "I'm surrendering. You win. You both win. Just — deal the next hand."
Riley dealt the next hand. Topanga turned the dial to five. The ship moved out into the harbor, past the Statue of Liberty, past the lights of Brooklyn, toward the open water where the rules changed and the week began, and Maya sat at a card table with a vibrator inside her and two women competing to destroy her.
Maya thought: this was going to be the best cruise of her life, and she was absolutely, catastrophically, gloriously fucked. The blue light on the remote pulsed once, like a heartbeat, like a promise, like the first note of a very long song. Topanga smiled. Riley dealt. The ship sailed.
The Nova was still inside her. It had been forty minutes since Topanga had turned it off, and the device sat in its position with the patient confidence of a loaded weapon — silent, weighted, pressing against her G-spot and her clit with a constant, low-grade fullness that made every step a negotiation.
